Uganda telephone tokens

From 1948 to 1962, the East African Posts and Telecommunications Corporation was responsible for telephone service in Uganda From 1962, its services were continued by the Uganda Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, a state monopoly. Its name was changed to Uganda Posts and Telecommunications Company Limited in 1977. In 1997, this organisation was split in four parts, one of which was Uganda Telecom Ltd, a private company regulated by the Uganda Communications Commission. Its competitors are CelTel and MTN Uganda Limited.

The metal of these tokens is a mixture of copper and zinc. These were not always well mixed. Consequently, some tokens will look like brass, while others will resemble copper.
