In 1850, Piet Bammens started a smithy in Geertruidenberg. Piet liked innovation and creative solutions. He became known for his honesty, both towards his customers and his staff. That proved to be a winning formula. His sons entered the business. Janus was a driven engineer, Chiel an inspiring entrepreneur. Their breakthrough came in 1890, when they introduced zinc coating of iron products. This technology prolonged the life of iron products by protecting them from oxidation. The business was sold in 1917. The new owners relocated it to Maarssen, where it still operates (photo: Google maps).

In 1929, the company created the zinc-coated garbage bin. It became the national standard for collecting household waste. This product was the basis for the present range of products to collect domestic waste, industrial waste, office waste and litter.

The Bammens group was taken over by Dutch gas and electricity consortium OGEM in 1970. OGEM went bankrupt in 1994. Its healthy companies ended up in a foundation, TBI Holding. In 1994 the Bammens group was renamed: Nedcoat. From 2011, this company was fully owned by a German group that operates under the name Coatinc. Bammens calls itself market leader in the Benelux. The company exports to a number of European countries.
