In 1920, brothers Hendrik and Dirk Koudijs founded NV Koudijs' Voederfabrieken in Barneveld. The company was known as B. K., for Barneveld Koudijs. The company produced animal feed for poultry. In 1927 the company relocated to Rotterdam, where, after 1938, it branched out into feed for pigs, cows and horses. In 1948, it moved again to Den Bosch. There, the name was changed to BEKA, the way the initials B. K. are pronounced in Dutch. In 1998, the company was taken over by De Heus Diervoeders - De Heus animal feed - who kept the brand name BEKA. The Den Bosch facility was closed in 2013.
